My Path to This Work

I have always known that for work to be personally meaningful to me, it has to contribute to the greater good. Early on, I realized psychology was the perfect route to a career based on making a difference in people’s lives. During my undergrad at UT Austin, I discovered my love for the practical application of theory, which led me toward counseling.

However, life had other plans for my timeline first. An unexpected pause delayed the counseling path initially but opened the door to other rich experiences. I spent years teaching and traveling in Asia, living nomadically across the US, and working with neurodiverse and gifted students in my native Dallas. I also wore many other hats like running an ethical accessory/vintage boutique and selling clothing. While those chapters were incredibly rewarding, my ultimate goal was still to become a therapist.

I eventually realigned with my true calling, completed my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and have been practicing since. It has been the perfect intersection of my interests, skills, personality, and values. Since I know what if feels like to be a client, I treat our work like a true partnership. In the room with me, therapy feels less like a rigid clinical assessment and more like a warm conversation with a compassionate collaborator, one who just happens to be extensively trained in mental health.

My Counseling Philosophy

My core philosophy is built on the belief that we all possess an innate, unshakeable inner wisdom that leads us toward healing. It never goes away, it is connected to something deeper just waiting to be uncovered. You deserve to create a life that genuinely aligns with who you already are.

This is where the concept of "no mud, no lotus" comes in: suffering and happiness are intertwined, and true growth comes from learning to embrace both. Think of your life as a canvas. When we can untangle the systemic blocks, anxieties, and old patterns standing in your way, we clear space for your organic vision, creativity, and dreams to resurface. I love taking expansive, into-the-clouds spiritual musings and bringing them back down to earth to find practical, everyday meaning. Together, we’ll work to get you out of survival mode that keeps you stuck, giving you the tools and freedom to paint a life that feels yours.

My Background & Lived Experience

My clinical style is built on a solid foundation of psychology, social work, and mental health counseling, and informed by lived experience. I understand what it means to hold intersecting identities, navigating both marginalized spaces and dominant culture, and I bring that entire perspective into our sessions.

As a bicultural, multiracial Asian American (Thai and White American with Czech roots), first-gen college student, and an LGBTQ+ ally, I am deeply passionate about multicultural therapy. My own family tree spans continents, from my Thai parent’s immigration story to my great-grandparents arriving from the Czech Republic. Because of this, I know firsthand how vital it is to have a space where your unique cultural identity is fully celebrated, and where we can openly unpack how different systems impact your self-concept.

Today, navigating life as a partner of 18 years and a parent to a spirited preschooler keeps me rooted. My family is a daily reminder of how resilient and imaginative human nature can be, constantly teaching me how to stay present, lead with flexibility, and find play in the everyday. Modern life demands so much of our energy, which is why I believe we have to be intentional and creative about carving out spaces for community, connection, and rest so we can truly thrive.

Outside the Therapy Room

If I weren’t a therapist, I’d likely be a stylist, designer, or a nomadic vintage clothing seller, but those paths couldn't fully satisfy my intellectual curiosity the way walking alongside human stories does. You can usually find me spending quality time with my partner and our child, hanging out with loved ones, exploring new places and events around Austin, or hunting down the thrill of a good local thrift find. I have a deep love for vibrant fashion, funky jewelry, consuming therapy material, and staying politically engaged in ways true to my values.
